Celebrate Kane`ohe

What is the “Celebrate Kane`ohe” project? Celebrate Kane`ohe is a series of events celebrating the history, the heritage and the people of Kane`ohe Bay, bounded by communities from Mokapu to Kualoa. It is the brainchild of the Ko`olaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club, which will be celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2012 and hopes to once again involve the entire community in honoring our own neighborhoods and people.

The steering committee and project team for Celebrate Kane`ohe will help with publicity for participating events, and is conducting fundraising to provide support and assistance to some of the participating organizations. The goal of Celebrate Kane`ohe is to bring together our diverse community, and to educate all of our people about our history, our heritage and our people.

If you'd like to get involved in our celebration of Kane`ohe, e-mail us at malamapono@aol.com or call 235-8111. Organizations wishing to participate should complete the commitment form to be included in our calendar of events.

The Celebrate Kane`ohe committee will publicize all participating events through 2012. Participating organizations are responsible for coordinating their own events.

Donations and volunteers are also welcome. We are currently seeking computer equipment for our  office. Our office phone number is (808) 235-8111.

KANE`OHE CHRISTMAS PARADE 2009

Celebrate Kane`ohe is seeking donations for this year's Kane`ohe Christmas Parade.  The parade committee, headed by kama`aina resident Art Machado, needs kokua in the form of cash, manpower, and donations of lunches and bottled water for the parade crew.

The parade committee will be selling t-shirts to help fund parade costs; if you would like to pre-order your shirts for this year (by the dozen), please contact Art at ph. 351-5198 or via email at: arts@hawaii.rr.com.
